Born in 1986 in Bogota, Colombia, and growing up in Tokyo, Japan, Alejandro Castano is a composer, guitarist, songwriter, and singer who strives to explore the possibilities hiding between the diversity of the world and the rigidity of musical tradition.
He has played and recorded with a number of bands, most notably The Red Fetish (experimental rock), which hailed from Tampa, Florida, and recorded a number of albums, and Mollowitz (post-rock), which performed around the Tampa area.
Enrolling at New College of Florida in 2005, Alejandro began studying theory and composition. In 2007, Alejandro composed a piece for the Sarasota Brass Quintet, beginning his experience writing for professional musicians. Alejandro's String Quartet "A Post Apocalyptic Love-Affair" was performed in the spring of 2008 by the Florida String Quartet, and his compositions for Piano Quartet and Mixed Chamber Group, "The Act of Faith" and "Walpurgis Night" respectively, will be performed later this year.
Alejandro currently lives in Sarasota, Florida, where he is finishing his studies in Music and Political Science.
